Jacek Jaśkowiak Mayor of Poznań

A devoted community worker, sports activist and businessman. Recently member of the Civic Platform and mayor of Poznań since 2015. He has been changing the city in many ways to make it a great place to live. In comparison to others, he is known for his courage to take radical steps and implement solutions proven in European metropolitan areas. His vision is to match Poznań to cities with highest quality of life.

Graduate of the Faculty of Law, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He gained his professional experience in commercial companies in the 1990s. Among others, his past employment includes Kulczyk Tradex, where he built up the first VW and Audi car dealership in Poland. He ran his own company from 1997 to 2014. Being a cross-county skier himself, he became a FIS member and organised World Cup Championships in Classical Skiing in Szklarska Poręba in 2012 and 2014.

Since he was elected the Mayor the change has been significant – the modern approach to the City itself, its inhabitants and development moves Poznań forward. It is visible in the streets, but also appreciated by experts – domestic and foreign ones. The vision is clearly defined – the city must become a friendly place to live in different aspects. The main challenge is to provide effective public transport, revitalise the city centre, improve green areas and conditions of housing estates on the outskirts.
